An education revolution
The Unity University was granted Operational License No. 1 in January 2020 and is now in its fifth year. Located in Hargeisa, Somaliland and Monrovia, Liberia, and supported by the PLO Lumumba Foundation, we exist to bridge the massive gap in higher-education access across Sub-Saharan Africa.
We pair free education with tailored, market-driven skill training — because access without employability is only half the promise.

Our journey
January 2020 — License No. 1
Granted the first operational license by the National Commission for Higher Education, Somaliland.
December 2022 — First graduation
The inaugural Foundation Certificate cohort crosses the stage.
October 2023 — First degrees
Foundation Certificates and the university’s first Bachelor’s degrees conferred.
October 2024 — First Master’s
Bachelor’s, Master’s and Foundation graduates in a single ceremony.
October 2025 — Class of 2025
Our largest cohort yet, across all three levels of study.
